I keep running into cool websites that render fine in Netscape 4.8 (and no JavaScript), however, these do not pop up on Google anymore and it gets tough to find them. The idea of this thread is to have everyone chip in a URL you encounter and creating a System 7 compatible site index kind of. Please write a short intro (vs. just dumping dozens of links)

Hey guys, can you somehow make the MacGarden image hosting upload thing be compatible with the default format of System 7 desktop screens? It just says 'simpletext', and I imagine it's a tiff file or something.

Also, I don't see a kitchen sink that has image insertion on the forum, so I'm guessing I have to do it manually like (IMG)x.jpg(/IMG) but with brackets. Right?

Also, slightly off topic: has anyone noticed that the Netscape Communicator program has a generic icon in System 7 but it appears as it should in OS8 and above? Weird. Also, why, in the application switcher at the top right of our Macs, does Netscape Communicator show a big M, instead of an N??

Yeah, we will do a write up on the BBCode things.
You can't have a button to add it automatically, since that needs JavaScript and we will try to keep it clean. Will add some kind of pop-up with BBCode and Smileys in the near future though.

And yes, the Macintosh Garden Image hosting service is what's recommended.
We COULD implement the upload image thing I guess, but it would require some JavaScript to work and would most likely break under NS4.8 etc.

About the generic icon Syntho - did you try to rebuild your desktop file? That usually solves the issue of missing/generic icons.

@Knezzen - awesome! Thanks for the links, will add them to the catalogue in the first post.

I've got another one myself -

I did indeed rebuild the desktop file but it doesn't work. I'm using 4.8. Maybe 4.08 doesn't do that.

aw man, just remembered my 6400 tower! :(

on rogue applications that refuse to show their icons, I copy the icon inside the program with resedit and just paste it into the info box, voila, problem solved! (via a workaround) I know it's a rough solution, but it works; I just truck ahead after that lol :D
